I wish to post a feedback request for all our amazing Jatra customers. Robots.txt is the first file that search engines read when visiting your site.

It can decide whether search engines should crawl your site, what sections / pages to exclude and even information like the location of the sitemap.

It’s a very powerful tool; and if you don’t know what you are doing - it can completely mess up your community’s SEO.

Let me know your thoughts on having the ability to edit the robots.txt file for your community through settings panel.

I have no clue what robots.txt does. Do you think community admins should have access to editing it?

Well, I think that option should be available on individual request, However, I would advise everyone to let Jatra keep handling it the way it's doing a good job.

Robots.txt is actually very powerful and it's better not touched by anyone who doesn't know what they're doing.

This file resides in the root of the domain and controls how web crawlers access your website. Robots cannot disobey the instructions in robots.txt file. Hence, it's better left untouched, unless you want to hide certain parts of the website.
