Custom Meta Descriptions Will Be Deprecated Through Upcoming Updates

We've decided to deprecate the custom meta descriptions through upcoming updates to Jatra. Over the past few years, we've seen that the custom meta descriptions are not valued by Google and LLMs.

Specifically - Google rewrites the meta descriptions in the SERPs to improve the CTR.

How does this affect Jatra Community Owners?

Currently, the 'Article' and 'News' post-types have custom meta_description input. It will be removed through our upcoming update. Creating an article will now mean lesser amount of fields.

Be assured that this move will NOT affect your SEO / Traffic or Ranking in any ways.

Meta Description Replacement

We are looking to replace meta descriptions with custom URL / SLUG. This could prove much more useful. However, this is currently in the 'idea' stage. Introducing custom URLs introduces multiple challenges, including the automatic 301 redirects to the latest / final URL.
