Wishing fellow Jatra members a very happy new year. I hope each one of you had a fantastic 2025 and I’m sure 2026 will be an amazing year as well.

There has been several weeks of silence and I thought it’s right moment to inform you what’s happening behind the scenes. My sincere apologies for the delay in communication.

Since October 2026, we have been making significant changes to Jatra’s core.

Why make changes when everything is smooth?

Since last several months, we’ve been constantly under attack from spammers. Human spammers are almost impossible to catch and ban.

After our first line of defense collapsed - we found out that we need a significantly different approach to how Jatra handles defense against spammers.

One part of the upgraded defense mechanism is moving Jatra to newer hardware. Jatra needs to be compatible with the new hardware as well. Which means, significant changes are required in the core - the way we handle subdomain routing, cache management, CNAME mapping for customer domains etc.

These core changes have a cascading effect on other important functionalities at Jatra:

  • Activity Feed

  • Notification System

  • Sitemap Generation Jobs

and several other interlinked mechanisms.

TL;DR: Jatra is getting rewritten.

Timeline:

The rewrite prevented us from building new features we promised. However, we still maintain our roadmap and I’ll make another post soon once we’ve the core ready.

Some of the deadlines to be aware of --

  1. Core Rewrite: January 20th

  2. Shift to new hardware: January 25

Once the move to new hardware is complete - we’ll begin releasing new features on priority.
