As many of you noticed - Jatra Community is under spam attack since last ~4 weeks. Despite our best efforts to stop the spammers, the spamming has continued.

The regular techniques to ban spammers haven’t worked and we are now thinking of a few advanced measures to control the spam menace.

At present, we are manually addressing all the spamming and banning spammers. This is not ideal and we are working on better ways to prevent spamming of Jatra Community.

Development Pace Slowdown

This unexpected attack on Jatra Community has resulted into slowdown in our feature development pace. As I spoke with many of you - we getting back to our regular pace of development and hope to launch new features every 1-2 week.

Some of the features we are working on -

  1. Direct messaging among members

  2. Groups / Rooms / GroupChat Feature

  3. Optimizing Jatra Layout on Mobile and Tablet devices

  4. Analytics

If you have suggestions - I request you to share them through our ‘Feedback’ section. It allows us to keep track of what’s in demand.

    Thanks for sharing this update. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to deal with spam for weeks, but I truly appreciate the effort you all are making to keep Jatra safe and operational. The new features sound exciting, especially messaging and groups, and I look forward to them.

    On the spam side, maybe things like stricter checks for new accounts or giving members easier ways to report spam could help.

    Either way, we’re with you, and I’m grateful for the transparency and the hard work behind the scenes.

    Thank you, Norman. Fighting spam is always a challenge. Especially now with AI - it's impossible to distinguish between a real human and a computer bot.

    The attack we received was from Indonesia based e-commerce company. The attack has slowed down since last two days; but I still see some traffic.
