Jatra Update : June 2026

Dear Jatra family, it's been a while since we posted an update on what's happening behind the scenes at Jatra.

New Clients: May 2026 kept us busy as a big community with 20,000+ users decided to migrate away from Discord and choose Jatra. We built a new post type especially for them and released it to all the communities powered by Jatra.

What is Cooking Behind The Scenes?

We decided to take a pause and rethink the future developments at Jatra. The promised 'Rooms' feature is currently under development. During our tests, we found that the rooms feature requires a layout update.

We therefore went back to our drawing boards to reimagine a modern interface for Jatra. After several drafts - we think we found a design that represents modern Jatra and creates space for new elements we want to add to the platform.

We are also testing mobile push notifications and PWA - a full app-like experience without downloading anything from App Store or PlayStore. The PWA (Progressive Web App) works flawlessly on mobile devices as well as desktops - just like a native app.

In addition, we are working on introducing Onboarding for new members. Onboarding ensures that new members are motivated to contribute to the community and are guided throughout the process. We hope to release the new design and new onboarding flow by the end of June 2026.

Once the new layout is ready, we'll look into releasing the Rooms feature. As of now, we can expect Rooms to go live by mid-July 2026 or earlier.

Shop / Services Post Type

If you wish to advertise products or services to your community, the new shop / products / services post-type will help you create a nice 'shop' facade. There is no plan to integrate full fledged shop / services page in Jatra as of now.

Courses:

A lot of communities are built around courses these days. We plan to introduce ability to conduct courses within the community. This is currently under evaluation stage. We'll post updates as we make progress. If you have suggestions or ideas - do share them through our feedback section.

Slack Integration:

If you run your community on Slack - Jatra can act as an Interface to expose all your content to Google. This is currently under evaluation. If you are interested - please send me a DM or email us on support@jatra.club

Events - We also have planned for the Events post type which will enable ability to conduct online / offline events for the community. The design / draft is ready and we are working on implementation details. I'll post updates soon.

Paid Memberships -

Paid memberships is one of the most requested features; however it requires special changes to the core. Paid memberships should enable Jatra community owners charge one time or recurring fees to their members.

There's lot more in the plan. Plus a few goodies releasing in the next 2 weeks. I'll keep a few surprises! 🙂
