We are excited to announce a major upgrade to Jatra Community Platform. Following is the overview of what’s new, and available immediately to all Jatra consumers.
You can now create 4 types of channels to organize your community. Let’s look at them one by one:
Public + Unrestricted (Default and Highly Recommended)
A public channel exposes your content to guest users and search engines. This is the default channel setting and we highly recommend this for most of your channels.
Unrestricted refers to posting rights being available to all the community members who are logged-in.
Public + Restricted
Sometimes, you may wish to restrict the posting rights to just a few members of your community. For example, a channel that has Blog posts or Announcements would typically allow only Admins and a few staff members to create new content.
Note that as a public channel, people will be able to view your content.
Private + Unrestricted
If you wish to create content only for select few members of your community, then you should create a private channel. The content of private channel is only visible to members who you have granted access.
As an ‘unrestricted’ channel - all the members of the private channel will be able to create new content in it.
Private + Restricted
When you want a very tight control over your channel and restrict posting rights to just a few members, you should go for a Private + Restricted channel. This channel exposes its content only to selected members but grants posting rights only to a few members from those. For example, if you want to create a private announcements channel for your mods, a private + restricted channel is for you.
I hope this makes it clear.
Let me know if you have questions.
