An unusual way of testing community platform before you buy!
I think community platform evaluation follows a typical path: either you book a call with the vendor and then they show you all the features their platform has.
I've evaluated several leading community platforms. There's one angle that everyone misses - and it's so obvious.
Just follow the typical user journey. That is, find out how your customers or users will interact with the community.
Will they land directly on a discussion from Google or AI chat citation?
Do they get the answers to their questions quickly?
If they want to follow up, is there a quick way to do it, without many hurdles?
Do that journey. You'll know how difficult most platforms make this journey.
When we began building Jatra, we knew it had to be simple. Your users will come to your community through search; mostly around a problem they want to solve. Make it easy for them. Don't force sign-ups unless you have to. Let them get value from your community before they decide to become a part of it.
Simple, right? Just keep that in mind when evaluating community platform for your business.
