I need help defining the purpose of my community. I know it’s a very basic thing - but I’m stuck. My audience is mostly any online D2C seller. My goal is to create a community of sellers to network and transact with each other. If you were running this community, how’d you define its purpose?

Hey Natasha, welcome back! It's a great question and definitely not a basic one. In order to define the purpose of your community, answer simple question, "Why should this community exist?"

If I were running the community of D2C founders and sellers, I'd define the purpose as follows: [XYZ] Community exists to bring together D2C founders, operators and sellers in one place to share insights, solve growth challenges, build genuine relationships and explore trusted ways to collaborate and transact.

With a well defined purpose, your community can now begin working on the following:

    1. What are the most common problems your audience face?
    2. What's the transformation you want after they join the community?
    3. What are the ways to grow the community while keeping it relevant to members needs?

I hope this helps. In general, the template to writing community's purpose is:

This community exists to help [your audience] achieve [specific outcome] by offering [key value, experience, support].

Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
