A Reddit user recently asked about strategies to build a community around emerging technologies. I thought it could be an interesting discussion. I’m sharing my thoughts below and hope to hear from fellow community builders.

Emerging technologies spark curiosity. They bring together the early adopters, developers, researchers and builders. There are several opportunities to build community around the emerging topics such as-

• AI Agents

• Quantum Computing

• Spatial Interfaces

..and many more.

I recommend following steps to follow when building a community around emerging technologies:

• Identify the core audience. Find out who’s most interested in this tech?

• Define the value. Why should people join the community? What do they get from the community?

• Identify growth channels. SEO, Newsletters, Cross-Posting, Social Media.

Communities grow when they make people feel like “insiders” in an outsider world.
