How To Keep Customer Data Private in Support Forums?
I've been thinking - what's the best way to keep customer data private and yet allow access to multiple stakeholders - while keeping everything in the community.
I think this is the use-case where Slack / Discord and most community platforms fail. Here's how it works currently:
Community owners create a private channel in Slack (any community platform they're using)
They invite the stakeholders to participate in the group.
This is how the customer data (screenshots, files, PDFs, bugfixes, tips et al.) stays private.
However, it's not scalable
Now imagine a scenario where the business has 100 customers. Each wants to keep their customer data private and have access to the same information.
So - should you create 100 private channels?
It's messy! You can't create and manage 100+ private channels in Slack. It's not possible. So how do you go about it?
I think I've found a solution - and we're implementing it in Jatra.
Rooms: Jatra will soon allow community owners to create private rooms. There's no limit on how many rooms you can create. You can dedicate one room to each customer and invite the stakeholders.
It's like running Slack inside your community!
Would love to know your thoughts on this. How do you handle this now?
