I noticed that people have different definitions of an online community. Here's the most accurate definition of an online community:

An online community is a group of people who repeatedly interact with each other in a shared digital space around a common interest, goal, identity, problem or purpose.

This definition should answer everything in your mind about a community. Notice that I focused on the definition of an online community; but it's similar for the general definition of a community. Simply eliminate 'digital space' and you've the proper definition of a community.
