How to get engagement on WhatsApp community?

I recently had a discussion with a promising founder who is looking to build a community. Their startup has potential and has steadily gaining users. They are building a community on WhatsApp - and are struggling to get people interested in adding posts, starting conversations and contributing.

In general, it is difficult to get engagement on WhatsApp communities. WhatsApp is not a community platform - and works best for small, close-knit groups. Using it for community building creates unique challenges.

    An update: I wrote an article on this topic: WhatsApp Community Growth and Engagement.

    In short, it's difficult to get engagement naturally on WhatsApp. It's a tool meant for group chats and not community building.

    I have also listed a few strategic initiatives that WhatsApp group owners can undertake to boost engagement.
