Can you migrate your community from Discourse to Jatra? Yes - you can. However, it's not a 'self-serve' migration. We'll do it for you - at no additional costs.

Why not self-serve migration?

Jatra is a fully-managed platform. We are committed to ensuring that our customers do not have to face the hassle of managing servers, importing data and backing it up. We do it for you.

That's why, if you want to migrate your community from Discourse to Jatra, all you need to do is schedule a call with us. We'll create a secure space for your data, and migrate it to our platform.

What is supported:

  • All user accounts

  • All posts + replies

  • Direct messages. 1:1 dms will be migrated. Group DMs are not supported. There is a workaround for this. So talk to us if you need this.

  • Channels and permissions

What will change:

  • URLs. Yes. Jatra's URL structure is simple and straightforward; and optimized for SEO (Read: New SEO Feature 🎉 : Auto Link-Processing | Jatra Community)

  • SEO will get affected for a brief period of time. This is expected. Google will take its own time (4-8 weeks) to recognize the change and re-crawl the entire community.

Other than that - your users will absolutely love the new experience.

If you have any questions around this topic; let us know.

Discourse uses Postgres. I've not looked at their schema; but you should be able to convert it into MySQL with a custom migration script. Let me know if you need any help. I've some experience with PG -> MySQL migration. 👍
