What is the main use of forums these days?

Hi all! I work as a social media manager for Eva One. I’ve been asked to evaluate the usefulness of forums for our business. I’ve never run or hosted a forum. Can someone tell me what’s the main purpose of the forums and how can a business benefit from it? EO is in the business of building custom AI agents for marketing teams at series A startups.
