USDT TRC20 looks cheap until the wallet burns extra TRX on the send.

TRON does not charge a separate USDT fee. It spends Energy and Bandwidth from the sending address. If that address has no Energy, the network burns TRX instead. That is why a USDT payout can drain the TRX buffer even when the USDT amount is correct.

Energy in short:

  • Energy pays for smart-contract work. USDT TRC20 is a contract call.
  • Bandwidth pays for the bytes of the transaction.
  • Frozen TRX can mint Energy, but it locks capital you may need later.
  • Empty Energy means the send burns TRX at confirmation time.

Buy vs rent:

  • buy tron energy when you want a desk that tops up Energy before the transfer.
  • rent trx energy when you only need it for a batch of payouts.
  • rent tron energy instead of keeping a large TRX reserve just to survive burns.

Check before you send:

  1. Confirm the destination is a TRON address (T...).
  2. Read Energy and Bandwidth on the sending address.
  3. Estimate the TRC20 transfer, then send.
  4. Keep a small TRX leftover for Bandwidth even after Energy is covered.
