Jatra 3:0 :: Revamped Notification Feed + Smart Notifications

I'll admit it - the old notification system in Jatra was mostly useless. Yeah, harsh words; but that's the truth.

That's why we rewrote the entire notification system from scratch to make it more efficient, intuitive and pleasing to look at.

• Notification feed gets a new look

• New notifications are identified with a different background color

• Notifications are grouped date wise.

• We've added icons for 'mentions', 'replies', 'likes' and other activities. This helps you quickly understand what the notification is about.

• Clicking on notification will automatically take you to the relevant location on the community. For example, if someone has liked your post - you'll be taken to the post. For replies received, the link would take you to the specific reply. The browser will automatically scroll to the response! 🙂

• The new notification system is now scalable and extendable. Think - receiving notifications on Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram or other channels. Right now, we support in-app notifications as well as email notifications.

• Jatra smartly introduces delays in notifications. Specifically, email notifications are slightly delated. We make the best effort to not send email if you've already viewed the notification in app.

• Notification Grouping: You will not be bombarded with notifications if you receive similar notifications within a short period of time. For example, 5 members like your notification within a few minutes. Your notifications will be smartly grouped together.

Finally, we've a new way to notify you through a cute bell that gets excited when you receive a new notification 🙂
