Jatra 3:2:4 :: Moderation Improvements - Report Post + Profanity Filter
We introduced two major moderation upgrades to help communities stay healthy without adding friction for genuine members.
New: Community Profanity Filter (Admin-controlled)
Admins can now enable a profanity filter from Settings → Moderation (Beta).
When enabled:
- Configured profanity keywords are automatically masked in posts and replies.
- False-positive safe words (allowlist) are supported.
- Protection applies consistently across:
- on-site content display
- notifications
- outgoing emails
- Community-level controls are available, while core privileged roles remain protected.
This gives communities a practical, lightweight safety layer without requiring manual moderation on every message.
New: Report Post / Reply Workflow
Members can now report inappropriate content directly from the post/reply action menu.
Report flow includes:
- Structured reason selection:
- Spam
- Abuse
- Advertisement
- Harassment
- Other
- Optional report note (validated length limit)
- Self-report protection (users cannot report their own content)
For moderators/admins/owners:
- Reported content appears in a dedicated Reported queue.
- A visual marker appears in post filters when reported items exist.
- Context links open the original content directly.
- Moderation actions include:
- Mark as reviewed
- View context and take action in-thread
Notification support:
- In-app moderation notifications for owner/admin/mod roles.
- Email notifications to moderation-capable users.
- Delivery respects notification preferences.
We hope this addition to Jatra will help you build a better, welcoming culture and keep troublemakers out.
