Jatra Moderation System Improvements - Easy User Bans

We have released a small feature that improves Jatra's moderation system. Admins can now ban individual users or a group of users from the admin panel.

We have been struggling with spammy registrations for quite some time now. We've therefore introduced an easy way to spot the spammers directly in the member-list and apply appropriate action.

  • Go to Community Admin section

  • Click Members -> Scroll down to members list

You should now see ability to select members and ban / unban them. Banned users will have their entries removed from the site's activity feed as well as from the Recently Active Members widget.

In addition, Jatra's moderation system takes note of the user's details and ensures that further abuse is prevented.

Is it possible for super admin to change roles for each member (e.g change member to moderator or admin)

Not now, but planned. Jatra is designed to let one person manage very large communities. An important feature on our roadmap - is auto moderation with AI. AI mod can keep an eye on the content, member activity, trolling etc. 24x7 and alert the human admins quickly. It can also keep learning from the actions admins have taken.

However, there will be a user roles system that will let admins appoint members with special privileges. For example - allowing 'Staff' to lock threads, edit someone's replies etc.

What we are avoiding is complicating the system. User roles and permissions is easy to implement; but it quickly becomes extremely complicated on the UI. That's something we want to avoid.

Right now, we don't and we won't mostly likely have a detailed user roles system. Most members don't care about it and we've found that it complicates the system.

We will however soon have ability to appoint users as mods or staff with limited permissions.
