Is anyone concerned about the chatbots and LLMs like ChatGPT and Perplexity crawling your content, training their models and then ultimately driving the traffic away from you?

It’s a different story with Google. Google shows your website or community link in its search results. However, the modern chatbots do not always credit the original website; because they ‘generate’ the content on the fly through different sources.

This takes us to the question: Should you block the AI chatbots and LLMs from crawling your community or website? Or should you let them consume your content? Let me know.

On our community, we don't restrict any bot from crawling our site. Frankly, it's foolish to prevent LLMs from crawling and indexing your content.

I firmly believe that the LLMs will have to credit the original sources they used to train. I'd focus on building authentic discussions and work on engaging my community members.

No, you should not block LLMs and Chatbots from accessing your community. I've recently began learning about SEO and it seems to be a great way to build your community. Free traffic! Bring it on!
