• We're considering moving our community off of Slack. We are a a small company from Ontario. Slack seemed like the perfect platform to start our customer community.

We currently have over 400 members, and we receive around 20 to 30 support messages daily. At the moment, we're using the free plan.

Slack is very expensive if we want to retain our chat history and customer interactions. I am exploring Jatra as an alternative to Slack and it looks impressive. However, the pricing is not mentioned anywhere. I am open to considering other alternatives to host our community. Thank you in advance.

Hi Steven, as discussed over the call, Jatra is an alternative to Slack. For the benefit of our audience, I'd like to share the points we discussed.

Slack is not a community platform : Slack is a chat-tool that works for small team sizes of up to 20 active members. Also, Slack pricing is not meant to support free members. It starts at $8/user/month which makes it not suitable to build a community.

One of the main limitations of Slack, is that it's a chat tool. This means, all the content shared is quickly lost in the pile of messages quickly. For support communities, this may not be an ideal scenario. If the content can be discovered by Google and other search engines, your users and potential customers can find the solutions through Google; and community becomes your customer support as well as lead-generation machine.

Jatra is a cheaper alternative to Slack. For communities with over 50 active members; Jatra costs a fraction of the cost, and offers:

    1. Structured discussions
    2. SEO powered content to attract organic traffic
    3. Automatically attracts new customers
    4. Offers more than simple 'chats' and 'discussions' to keep members engaged.
    5. A proper community platform for organic growth.

These are some of the reasons why communities prefer Jatra over Slack. If you have further questions, let me know. I look forward to onboarding your community on Jatra.
